Efficacy of vaginal dilator use in preventing vaginal stenosis among cervical and endometrial cancer patients underwent radiotherapy

Background: Vaginal dilators (VD) are effective in the prevention of vaginal stenosis patients undergoing pelvic radiotherapy for gynaecological malignancies. This study was aimed to assess efficacy VD use preventing post cervical and endometrial cancer patients.Methods: A cohort designed among (20-70 years) with biopsy proven carcinoma who underwent were included. Patients (FIGO stage-IA IVA), stage IB grade III, FIGO II), histology squamous cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma performance score-ECOG 1 included study. Assessment clinical history, general examination, examination at 3 monthly intervals till year. Grading assessed using LENT SOMA grading system.Results: total 42 20 22 refused assigned. It 60% users compared 20% nonusers (p=0.007) 9 months follow up. While 12 up, it 58% 16.6% (p=0.066). Percent adherence maximum 1st 2ndquarter declined 61% by 4th quarter. The 97%.Conclusions: There 55% vs 22.7% effectiveness prevent users. All need proper counselling, motivation support regular usage which will ultimately help reducing incidence stenosis.
